Quantum quenches from an excited state

چکیده
Determining the role of initial conditions in late time evolution is a key issue for theory nonequilibrium dynamics isolated quantum systems. Here we extend quenches to case which before quench system an excited state. In particular, show perturbatively size (and arbitrarily strong interactions among quasiparticles) that persistent oscillations one-point functions require presence one-quasiparticle contribution state, as originally shown [J. Phys. A 47 (2014) 402001] from ground Also present case, argue results generically have nonperturbative implications. Oscillations staying undamped within accessible interval, far beyond perturbative scale, are nowadays observed numerical simulations.

Inhomogeneous Quantum Quenches
We study the problem of a quantum quench in which the initial state is the ground state of an inhomogeneous hamiltonian, in two different models, conformal field theory and ordinary free field theory, which are known to exhibit thermalisation of finite regions in the homogeneous case. We derive general expressions for the evolution of the energy flow and correlation functions, as well as the en...
متن کاملQuantum Quenches in Chern Insulators.
We explore the nonequilibrium response of Chern insulators. Focusing on the Haldane model, we study the dynamics induced by quantum quenches between topological and nontopological phases. A notable feature is that the Chern number, calculated for an infinite system, is unchanged under the dynamics following such a quench. However, in finite geometries, the initial and final Hamiltonians are dis...
متن کاملExcited-state relaxation in PbSe quantum dots.
In solids the phonon-assisted, nonradiative decay from high-energy electronic excited states to low-energy electronic excited states is picosecond fast. It was hoped that electron and hole relaxation could be slowed down in quantum dots, due to the unavailability of phonons energy matched to the large energy-level spacings ("phonon-bottleneck"). However, excited-state relaxation was observed to...
متن کاملQuantum quenches and competing orders
Abstract We study the non-equlibrium dynamics of an electronic model of competition between an unconventional charge density wave (a bond density wave) and d-wave superconductivity. In a time-dependent HartreeFock+BCS approximation, the dynamics reduces to the equations of motion of operators realizing the generators of SU(4) at each pair of momenta, (k, k), in the Brillouin zone. We also study...
متن کاملMeasuring entanglement using quantum quenches.
We show that block entanglement entropies in one-dimensional systems close to a quantum critical point can, in principle, be measured in terms of the population of low-lying energy levels following a certain type of local quantum quench.
